Password Management

What Is This Service?

The Password Management service enables you to retrieve your forgotten password or change it at any time online without having to contact the IT Service Desk. Password Management also provides other tools for your convenience.

What Is Included?

  • Ability to retrieve your forgotten password and change your password online at any time
  • Ability to save a security question and answer for quick and easy identification and retrieval of forgotten password
  • Ability to specify your own password or select a system generated one
  • Live strength analysis of your specified password as you type
  • Synchronisation of your changed password across all of CSU's online services and systems
  • Password toolbox showing number of days until required password change
  • Automatic email notifications to remind you to change your password before it is due to expire, to advise when your password has expired and to advise your password change was successful
  • Assistance and support for password management issues

Available to all staff

Significant incident responseUp to 15 minutes in 98% of cases for incidents affecting availability of service for all staff (this does not include incidents affecting individuals or a small subset of staff)

Up to 4 hours in 98% of cases for incidents affecting availability of service for all staff (this does not include incidents affecting individuals or a small subset of staff)

The University will never ask you for your password via email, telephone, letter or face to face. Do not disclose it to anyone. In conjunction with your username, your password authenticates you to access restricted systems and online services. You must treat your password like your ATM card PIN to prevent any unauthorised use. If you think someone knows your password and/or has logged into your account change your password immediately and advise the IT Service Desk of any activity not performed by you on your account.

How Do I Initiate This Service?

All inclusions listed above are available to all staff. If your password has expired you must change it to restore your Internet access. The number of days until required password change is listed on the left hand side of staff.csu when you log in. Retrieve your forgotten password at any time using the Forgotten Password link on the staff.csu login page.

How Much Does It Cost?

The provision, maintenance and support of the Password Management system is funded by the University and provided at no additional cost to staff.

Where Can I Find On Line Self Help or More Information?

If you need to access Banner or Alesco you cannot use special characters in your password. Read Why can't I log into Banner or Alesco since I changed my password for details of characters which cannot be used.
