Temporary Access Administration System

What Is This Service?

The Temporary Access Administration System enables you to create a temporary account for those requiring temporary staff access to CSU IT services and/or systems. A temporary account will allow PhD and HDR students, visiting academics, consultants, vendors and contractors to login to CSU computers and gain access to the services they require.  There are six (6) types of accounts that can be created

  1. Conference accounts (for external groups using CSU facilities)
  2. Temporary staff (ONLY for people who will not be paid by Human Resources)
  3. Temporary student
  4. Interact Guest
  5. Contractor Visitor
  6. Other type of access

What Is Included?

  • Ability for a Supervisor to create a temporary account to enable access to selected services
  • Ability to provide up to a maximum of 12 months access
  • Ability to create an account for conference attendees, temporary staff, temporary students, guest Interact, contractor visitor or other type
  • Ability to manage existing accounts (lookup accounts, terminate and extend access duration)
  • Ability to take over supervision of an account created by another supervisor
  • Temporary staff account get default access to login to computers, wireless network, staff.csu, forums, provision of P: drive and Interact. Internet access is provided if an account code is provided when creating the account. Optional services available to request are a staff email account, access to Library databases and a HR induction. S drive access must be requested from and granted by the relevant Share Administrator
  • Temporary student accounts get default access to login to computers, wireless network, student.csu, forums, Internet and printing if an account code is provided. Optional services available to request are access to Library databases and CSUSAP
  • Interact guest accounts get default access to login to computers, staff.csu and Interact
  • Contractor Visitor accounts get default access to login to computers, wireless network and Internet if an org/account code is provided. Optional services available to request are HR Induction, CSUSAP and provision of P: drive. S drive access must be requested from and granted by the relevant Share Administrator
  • Other type of access accounts get default access to login to computers, staff.csu, forums and wireless network. Internet access and lab printing is provided if an account code is provided when creating the account. Optional services available to request are HR Induction, CSUSAP and provision of P: drive. S drive access must be requested from and granted by the relevant Share Administrator

Special access conditions

Temporary access can only be created by a permanent staff member, a casual cannot grant temporary access (be a supervisor) to someone else

Significant incident responseUp to 15 minutes in 98% of cases during support hours for incidents affecting availability of service for all staff (this does not include incidents affecting individuals or a small subset of staff)
Significant Incident resolution

Up to 1 day in 98% of cases during support hours for incidents affecting availability of service for all staff (this does not include incidents affecting individuals or a small subset of staff)

As a supervisor you must provide an account code for charges that may be incurred by system use (eg internet downloads)

Temporary access accounts should not be created for staff that will be employed and paid by HR.  Accounts for these staff will be automatically provisioned when HR process your notification of new staff member

How Much Does It Cost?

Provision, management, access and support of the Temporary Account Administration System is funded by the University and is provided at no additional cost to staff.
