Project Brief

The Wagga Wagga Learning Commons project will involve the part refurbishment of an existing Library building (B13) into a contemporary interactive flexible and collaborative learning space, including, library facilities, study spaces, computer labs, formal and casual learning spaces, social spaces, researchers' rooms, parents' rooms for students with small children, cafes, a mix of group study and multimedia spaces, and 24 hour access to computing facilities and online resources.

The works involve major refurbishment of Levels 1 and 2 and part refurbishment of levels 3 and 4

Level 1: Major refurbishment of the existing space to include: Toilet facilities, parent's suite, assistive technology room, print facilities and extension to the building providing increased student 24 hour student facilities and DDA compliant access.

Level 2: Major refurbishment of the existing space to include: New entry area, MDLM, student services areas, cafe, loans area, new central stair access to level 3, office space and extension to the building providing increased student 24 hour student facilities.

The MDLM will be contained within level 2 the Learning Commons and will accommodate seventy (70) students in flexible Learning Modules of thirty five (35) students interconnected by way of an operable wall. Each module will have screens, cameras and audio equipment at both ends and data connections (wireless) for thirty five (35) lap top computers as well as data connectivity to an insertion module remotely located. Each Learning Module will also have interactive white boards and flexible furniture for lecture, workshop and learning centre layout and include high definition video conference facilities and secure storage.

Level 3: Minor refurbishment of the existing space in order to accommodate the new central stair from level 2.

Level 4: Minor refurbishment of the existing space.
