Building 13 Wagga Wagga

Scope

This project involves the replacement of the original lift in the William Merrylees Library at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. The lift is more than 30 years old and many components of the lift have reached their end of life cycle. The new works will improve travel for staff and students who utilise the lift, including cleaning and catering staff. Access to level one, 24/7 Learning Commons computers and amenities, will also be improved. The upgrades will make the lift safer, more reliable and compliant with current-day standards.

Design Features

Design features of the new lift include:

  • New operational controller – this system will eliminate harsh movements, improving the rise and fall during elevator travel.
  • New door drive system – This new, highly sophisticated system will improve door operation on the lift, making it safer, quieter and faster.
  • New landing door locking system – This system will ensure the doors remain securely locked when the elevator car is on another floor.
  • New car interior – upgrades to the interior finishings inside the car
