Casual General Staff - Terms of Appointment

Terms

Where the University engages an employee in the form of a casual academic staff appointment, the following information shall be provided to the employee:

  • Period of employment;
  • Duties to be performed;
  • Estimated maximum number of hours to be worked
  • Rate of pay
General Staff Enterprise Agreement
  • Minimum of 3 hours per engagement and a maximum 6 months engagement
  • Overtime applies after 10 hours in one day
  • No more than 5 hours work without a ½ hour break
  • Notice period of 1 hour *

* Where a verbal contract has been made or the period of casual engagement is in excess of two weeks, there may be an expectation of a greater period of notice.
