Induction for other HVA staff
The principles of the Induction and Development Program will apply to these persons who will require an understanding of CSU performance requirements, any compliance and legislative requirements that may apply and an understanding of CSU's expectations. Each Faculty and Division will determine individual programs that take into account the nature of the work being undertaken.
This resource outlines the steps to be taken to induct an honorary, visiting or adjunct staff member into the University. Each Faculty or Division is responsible for developing a strategy and resources regarding the Induction and Development needs of these appointments. The content to be covered in induction and development will be similar but not identical for each Division and Faculty.
Depending on the nature of the appointment, or the work being undertaken on behalf of CSU, the Dean or the Director of a Research Centre will need to plan a suitable induction program for these staff.
This could include information relating to:
- Compliance and ethical requirements for honorary, visiting and adjunct staff
- Access to CSU IT network
- Access to and use of CSU Facilities
- Council and Senate regulations relating to the role and activities of the appointment.
The Honorary, Visiting and Adjunct Appointments Policy [DOC] states that the provision of a general induction to the University, and the dissemination of information related to Environment, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity and the Academic Code of Conduct, remains the responsibility of the Dean of Faculty (or nominee) and/or the Director of a Research Centre (or nominee) in conjunction with the Division of Human Resources.
This general induction could be delivered using the guide on Planning Induction for casual academic staff
Compliance and ethical requirements for honorary, visiting and adjunct appointments
Under agreements with the NSW Police and with the theological colleges who are the University's partners in the School of Theology, staff of these organisations who are accredited to teach in the University's programs have the status of academic staff of the University. They should be subject to the induction arrangements for the University's academic staff [DOC].
