Graduate Certificate in University Leadership and Management (GCULM)
These programs aim to develop the capabilities of existing and aspiring leaders and managers at CSU and are fully funded by the Division of Human Resources.

Leaders and Managers Program (LAMP)
Overview
The Leaders and Managers (LAMP) program comprises four online modules completed over a 6 month period from November 2013 to May 2014.
The content of the program is focused on the higher education sector and has been developed by the LH Martin Institute in partnership with ATEM (the Association for Tertiary Education Management).
The modules are:
1. Managing & Developing Yourself

Using personal profile tools to increase understanding of your strengths and areas for development.

2. Managing & Developing Others

Roles and styles that leaders and managers need for working with others.

Eligibility
The study is self-paced, and participants will be part of an online learning community supported by a facilitator. Participants will participate in video conferences and online discussion groups.
There is no formal assessment or awarding of a formal qualification in this program. Participants will submit a portfolio at the end of each module and will receive written feedback from their facilitator.
Pathways from this program include the Graduate Certificate in University Leadership and Management (GCULM).
Eligibility
- Holds a management qualification at Diploma level or higher.
- Has the support of their supervisor to undertake the program.
- Holds a continuing appointment at CSU, or a fixed term appointment with at least 9 months to run from the date of application (part time is acceptable).
- Has the opportunity to lead or manage people or programs within their work.

Graduate Certificate in University Leadership and Management (GCULM)
Overview
The GCULM program comprises two 16 credit point distance education subjects which are delivered by the Faculty of Business over two academic sessions from March 2014 to October 2014.
- The content of the program focuses on the tertiary education sector and is specific to the CSU context.
- The opportunity for formal mentoring will be offered to participants of this program.
- One subject is delivered in each academic session. Participants will participate in video conferences and online discussion groups.
- The program includes formal assessment and successful completion leads to the awarding of the Graduate Certificate in University Leadership and Management.
The program subjects are:
ULM511: University Approaches to Leadership and Management
This subject will explore the contemporary higher education context and its external environment and then relate this back to key issues and challenges facing leaders and managers in CSU.
Key themes include:
- exploring contemporary issues relevant to the leadership and management of people and resources.
- examining service delivery policies and strategies in the context of the changing learning organization.
- exploring theories of leadership and management.
- utilizing the experiences of participants to explore the practice of leadership and management.
ULM512: University Governance and Strategic Leadership and Management
This subject enhances participant understanding and appreciation of university governance and its relationship to effective university strategic leadership and management.
Key themes include:
- Developing an understanding of Australian public universities as statutory corporations including university governance mechanisms and the relationship with management decisions and leadership.
- Analysing the core strategies in known and unknown "futures" through strategic leadership processes including human resources, and risk management.
- Examining the leadership role, responsibilities and capacities of a university governance mechanism to steer a university towards longer term outcomes.
Eligibility
- Holds at least a Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
- Meets CSU student enrolment requirements.
- Has the support of their supervisor to undertake the program.
- Holds a continuing appointment at CSU, or a fixed term appointment with at least 9 months to run from the date of application (part time is acceptable).
- Has the opportunity to lead or manage people or programs within their work.
