The Leadership Development for Women program at CSU is available for women academic staff and general staff level 6 and above.
The Leadership Development for Women program aims to provide a suite of learning opportunities to build the leadership capabilities of the participants. This includes a series of workshops, ongoing activities, peer leaning groups and engagement with a mentor.
To be considered for the program, applicants need to be employed on a ongoing basis either full-time or part-time to minimum of 0.5. Applicants on contracts with an expiry date at the end or beyond the year of application are also considered. Staff enrolled in other leadership and management programs (e.g. Graduate Certificate of University Leadership and Management) are not eligible to apply in the same year. Casual staff are also not eligible.
The Leadership Development for Women program is designed to build trust and networking between participants, as well as build the leadership capabilities of each individual. for this reason the program requires full participation. Applicants who are unable to attend all the workshops in full are encourage to find other mechanism to build their skills. Information requested in an application includes
· A short summation of how the applicant thinks the program will benefit her personally and the University generally.
· Written support from the applicant’s supervisor or manager with a short summation of how the program will benefit the professional development of the applicant and contribute to the objectives of the workplace.
In addition, endorsement of the relevant Director or Head of School and the relevant Executive Director or Dean is required.

Applications Process
A request for applications is called at the end of each year, in November or December.
Applications are considered by a delegation of The Leadership Development for Women Steering Committee.
Applicants are advised by email whether their application has been successful or not.
Successful applicants complete an acceptance form and return it to Dawn Mullins dmullins@csu.edu.au at the Division of Human Resources by the specified date.
In the event that some offers are not accepted, a second round of offers will be made to any unsuccessful and eligible applicants.
Selection to the program is based on each individual application. In addition consideration is given to the balance within the group, e.g. it is considerable preferable for participants to be located across a range of campuses and from the academic and general staff streams.
Mentoring
A component of The Leadership Development for Women program is the mentoring process. At the beginning of the program participants are matched with a mentor and encourage to meet regularly. Mentoring provides both the participant and mentor with a range of opportunities for learning and development.
