Awards and Schemes for CSU Staff

Charles Sturt University values its staff, and is committed to recognising and rewarding excellence in their performance. From 2009 CSU will introduce a range of recognition strategies and awards to identify and recognise the individual staff members and teams who have made outstanding contributions in the performance of their duties, or who have contributed to the success of other members of the University community. This framework is based on staff feedback from surveys and focus groups conducted in 2008.

There are four levels of recognition that align with and support the Performance Management Scheme and annual team reviews. Click here for an overview of the timeline of events.

Information
Tier 1: Performance Management Recognition This Tier recognition is for all staff who meet performance requirements of the Performance Management Scheme. Staff will be eligible for salary progression and access to CSU's professional development schemes and external conferences or seminars.
Tier 2: Workplace Recognition Strategies Supervisors will provide this Tier recognition for all staff who receive a rating of exceeds requirements or outstanding performance. Staff will be recognised through local workplace recognition strategies that are determined jointly by the supervisor and staff. The Dean/Executive Director/Deputy Vice-Chancellor will also issue a letter of congratulations to these staff members and teams.
Tier 3: Faculty/Division Awards Supervisors will nominate all outstanding staff members and teams to the Dean, Executive Director or Deputy Vice-Chancellor for an individual or team award. There will be a maximum of 81 Faculty/Divison (or other management area) Awards.
Tier 4: Vice-Chancellor's Awards Up to 12 awards will be made to individual staff members or teams who have performed at an outstanding level over a sustained period. Faculty/Division Award recipients will be nominated for a Vice-Chancellor's Award, and nominations will be accepted from the wider CSU community.
