The University must continue to adapt and respond to external changes, opportunities and challenges to ensure that it is well positioned within the sector. With around 60% of every dollar of University expenditure spent on staff, the Division of Human Resources has a pivotal role in ensuring that staff management practices support the achievement of institutional objectives.

We believe that the Division of Human Resources needs to work in a different way in order to deliver the advances and outcomes the University is seeking and as a result, we are moving to a strategic HR leadership model. In doing so, we believe that HR needs to better support line managers in their accountability for HR practice and related decision making.

The new HR model will involve a shift in focus from Campus to Faculty/Division based service delivery. A more distributed HR business partnering model will be introduced, while the best elements of a centralised functional model are retained.

The new structure will be launched on 16 February 2009. However, it will take some time for HR to transfer all of its activities into the new model.
