Leave Entitlements

Leave entitlements for fixed term staff are the same as continuing except that a staff member who does not work for the full year accrues leave on a pro rata basis.

Expiration of a Fixed Term Contract

Clause 21.11 of the Enterprise Agreement details the period of notice required to renew, or not renew, a fixed term appointment.

The CSU Enterprise Agreement [Clause 21.12 - 21.13] sets out the criteria for severance pay.

Eligibility to extend

Employees who were appointed to a contract position based on merit are eligible to have their contract extended.

Please note that where an employee has been directly appointed into a position and the maximum term allowable for the direct appointment has expired (2 years) and you wish to extend the contract you will need to advertise the position and undertake a competitive selection process in order to continue the position.
