Occupational Health and Safety Induction (ELMO Online Training Portal)
The University is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all its workers and complying with its Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislative requirements. While fulfilling its commitment, the University also appreciates the need to deliver OHS information in an efficient and effective manner. Therefore, Charles Sturt University has an agreement with ELMO Learning Services for the provision of web based OHS Online Training for all staff and supervisors through a specifically designed portal.
Online training is offered to provide workers with important information that will assist them to minimise any risks that may effect their health and safety while at work. This online training is generic in nature and is meant to be supplemented with specific job or task related training provided at the local level. This job or task specific training will be provided at an appropriate time determined between yourself and your supervisor to ensure a good learning outcome is achieved.
Subsequent to legislative requirements regarding the provision of WHS induction, CSU is required to ensure that it can provide evidence that such information, instruction or training has been provided to and understood by all workers. CSU therefore requires a minimum level of competency to be achieved for each ELMO module, that being a score of 80% or greater for each module assessment. On obtaining a score of 80% or more a record of completion is created and transferred to your personal details in the Human Resources database. A score of less than 80% is a learning opportunity for you to review the module and to undertake the assessment again. Each new assessment uses different questions from the ELMO question bank.
The current modules available for this online training (as from 22 March 2013) are:
- Safe U @ CSU (all staff must complete)
- Fire and Emergency Procedures (all staff must complete)
- WHS for Managers (must be completed by any employee whose duties involve managing/supervising staff)
- WHS Harmonisation (all staff are encouraged to complete - not compulsory)
The course below should also be completed as directed.
- Understanding and Minimising Corrupt Conduct
