The twin cities of Albury-Wodonga lie on both sides of the border between two of Australia 's Eastern Sates: New South Wales and Victoria . The city is well connected to Sydney , Melbourne and Canberra , with easy access to these cities by plane, train and bus. In particular, Melbourne is only a three-hour car journey.
What is the climate like?
Albury has a hot dry climate with average Summer (Dec-Feb) temperatures of around 30 ° C. In Winter (June-Aug), the average daytime temperature is 12 ° C, but at night it can be as low as 0 ° C. Students are advised to bring loose clothing for Summer and warm clothing, including a wind-proof jacket for Winter.
Can I practise my faith in Albury?
Freedom of religious choice is an important part of the Australian lifestyle. A Prayer Room is available for Islamic students and other faiths. Upon request, separate facilities for men and women can be made available. Students are also welcome to visit the Islamic Study Centre based at the Wagga Wagga campus, about a 1 hour 15 minute drive.
What leisure activities can I do in Albury?
Albury-Wodonga has a rich cultural life with theatre and art galleries, wonderful cafes and restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, as well as excellent shopping. Botanical gardens provide the perfect spot for picnics and other leisurely activities.
For the sports lovers, there are excellent facilities including 4 golf courses, 4 public swimming pools/aquatic centre, sporting ovals, with 2 Botanical gardens and around 95 parks and reserves. The beautiful Hume Weir is a great venue for swimming, water skiing and fun in the sun. Albury is the gateway to nearby snowfields and ski resorts.
