Guidelines for subject selection:

As a Study Abroad or International Exchange student at CSU, you have the flexibility to choose to study single subjects from a variety of disciplines. You may need to provide evidence of meeting prerequisites for some subjects.

The normal full-time program load at CSU is four subjects per semester, usually made up of four 8 credit point subjects, with two semesters a year.

  1. Choose a course of interest from the courses list and then select four subjects of your choice from within these courses. You are not restricted to one course only. The subject descriptions can be found within the course structure and linked to the online handbook
  2. Check that the subjects are offered in the semester you are at CSU and available at one CSU campus only

When selecting subjects please remember the following:

Sessions 1, 3 and 5 start in late February (Autumn session)
Sessions 2, 4, and 6 start in late July (Spring session)

  3. Check that your choices are appropriate and your prior studies meet our prerequisites
  4. If you are studying at a institution at home, talk to your adviser and gain pre-approval for your subject choices
  5. Complete your choice of subjects on your application form. Make sure that you select additional subjects and list in order of preference to allow for flexibility. This will also cover you if you have timetable clashes.
  6. You need to select your subjects and receive written offer and confirmation of the subjects from CSU before arriving in Australia. CSU can assist you with selecting units that meet your interests and needs.

LauraLaura from Canada says:
“Studying at CSU was life changing. I always wanted to travel to Australia. When I became aware that I could also study there, it was perfect. I was able to earn credits towards my degree while travelling to a new and exciting place. Living on a CSU campus was such an amazing opportunity and everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The university does a great job organising events and activities for students. Not only did I get a glimpse of life in a diverse culture, but I also gained a new found appreciation for my home country. The staff and students were all so friendly and always there to lend a hand. I truly felt as though I developed a global family. I would go back to CSU in an instant!”
