EFPI's Higher Degree by Research (HDR) PhD program
The program offers a unique opportunity to conduct research in professional and practice-based education (P&PBE). Our research areas include:
- Understanding how to educate future professionals
- Development of professional expertise
- Construction of the professional identity
- Becoming a professional through socialisation
- Reflective practice
- Learning that enhances P&PBE outcomes
- Workplace learning and Scholarship in P&PBE.
Our doctoral students become part of a program and research community known as COHORTS (Community Of Higher degree students Optimising Research and Training Students). The Cohorts program is designed to provide support, training, mentoring and supervision to higher degree research students and is tailored to meet the learning needs of students at all stages of their higher research degree journey. COHORTS also runs a comprehensive series of workshops that offer a rich and varied calendar of HDR training throughout the year. Topics covered include:
- Theoretical frameworks
- Ethics proposals
- Qualitative methodologies
- Collecting and analysing data
- Writing and presenting research.
