Evaluation of Learning and Teaching at CSU

The Student Experience Questionnaire (SEQ)

The SEQ was introduced to examine student satisfaction levels in their first year of study. Receiving early feedback from students will allow enhancements to be made to various aspects of their course.

The SEQ instrument closely resembles the CEQ and comprises 36 items grouped into 6 scales which are: Good Teaching, Generic Skills, Graduate Qualities, Learning Resources, Student Support and Library Experience. It also features 3 single-item constructs which are Overall Satisfaction, Satisfaction with the Quality of Academic Support and Sense of Belonging to the CSU Community.

Each year, the administration of the SEQ, its data analysis and the reporting of outcomes are governed by a set of key dates. Annual SEQ reports are available for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012

Validated Comprehensive Reports for Academic Promotion Applications

Detailed information is available under Academic Staff Promotion: Guidelines for application.

Applicants for academic promotion must submit teaching evaluations in the standard presentation format of a printed Comprehensive Report.

A Comprehensive Report comprises a session-by-session listing of all subjects for which the academic staff member has been officially nominated as subject coordinator. It presents the 11 core item mean scores, aggregated core means, number of students enrolled, and response percentages for each subject. The School's 11 core item mean scores and its aggregated core mean are also presented for comparative reference.

Evaluation Services will print out the requested Comprehensive Report on the Division of Learning & Teaching's letterhead and send copies for information to the employee and his/her Head of School. The Comprehensive Report will be sent to the Secretary, Academic Staff Promotion Committees, Division of Human Resources to include in the application documentation.
