See Autotext to learn about editable and non-editable Autotext.
If Autotext is editable it is treated in the same manner as authored content, i.e. the Subject Outlines tool manages the content for the Outline as if the Author has created the content from scratch. Therefore, regardless of whether the Autotext has been edited or the default Autotext is retained, if an Outline is cloned or editable Autotext section content is reused the tool will simply create a replica of the section content. However, editable Autotext is able to be refreshed to revert edited content to the default Autotext as desired.
If a section contains editable Autotext, click on the Autotext Refresh icon
(blue letter A sporting a green arrow) within the section menu. A preview of the default Autotext will display. Click OK to confirm you wish to insert the default into the section or Cancel to retain any existing content.

In the example above, the editable Autotext states superseded details for Student Services Support Central. With the introduction of Student Central in early 2010, new default Autotext is available within the system. The Author can click the Autotext Refresh icon for the Assignment Return section to preview the current effective Autotext for the Assignment Return section which includes the current details for the new Student Central.

Further, if the Outline has been created for multiple subject offerings and the section allows different content to be authored for each linked offering within the section (i.e. sections denoted 'Changing this section will affect the current offering only'), the Author will be prompted to select to also refresh further offerings if they wish. Click OK to refresh the currently displayed offering and any additional selected offerings. Click Cancel to retain any existing content. See Editing an Outline for multiple offerings to learn more about sections which allow different content to be authored for each linked offering.
IMPORTANT Please peruse the important notes within the pop-up screen prior to confirming to refresh other offerings. Under certain circumstances data will be overwritten or deleted authored content - it will NOT be recoverable unless it can be cloned or reused from another Outline.
