Delegation of Outline Development |
Subject Coordinators are able to delegate the task of developing a Subject Outline by populating any staff member with a current valid staff login into the Nominal Subject Coordinator role via the Subject Coordinator Maintenance Form (SCMF) which is maintained by Schools. Once in the role for specific offering/s, after an hour or so, the subject/s appear in their dropdown list in Step 2 of the Create New Outline process - once they create the Outline, they are the Author and are able to develop the Outline on behalf of the substantive Subject Coordinator. |
||||
My Outlines Lists & 'View' Permissions |
Once the Author creates an Outline, any staff member with a Subject Coordinator or Nominal Subject Coordinator role for any linked offering will see the Outline appear in their My Outlines list. If the Outline displays in the list in light blue font, they are able to View the Outline, i.e. the Author has made the Outline 'public' or it has a QA Approved or Published status. Click the Roles icon in the My Outlines list to display the Author's name and all staff with a responsibility as per the SCMF. |

Selecting Subject Offerings |
During Step 2 of the Create New Outline process, be sure to peruse your available subject offerings to select all the appropriate subject offerings for which to create the Outline, including any offshore tutorial (OT) cohorts. The cohorts selected during Step 2 will not be able to be amended once the Outline is created - functionality to enable amendment post-creation will be implemented early 2010. |
||||
1 Outline per Subject Offering |
Only one (1) Outline will be able to be created per offering (as per SAL) – therefore it is important to understand that once an Outline is created for an offering, all other substantive or nominal Coordinators/Convenors will be prevented from creating another Outline for the same offering. However, once created, the Outline will appear in the My Outlines list of such other staff. |
||||
SAL changes |
If the mode &/or campus of the subject is modified on the SAL after you have created an Outline for the superseded offering, select to 'Clone' the existing Outline for the new mode/campus subject offering. |

Saving Assessment Items |
Click OK on the editor then Save on the assessment item form to refresh the Outline with the new/edited assessment. It is strongly recommended that assessment items are Saved regularly to reduce the risk of losing work, e.g. from browser crashing, etc. Click Edit on the item in the Manage Assessment table to re-enter the item and continue editing. |

Formatting styles - avoid re-styling |
Avoid re-styling of content - it is not managed well by the editor. So please choose content styles wisely to avoid potential style issues caused by re-styling. |
||||
Image file types |
Supported image files are jpeg and gif only. Other image file types will encounter display issues in the PDF print version. |
||||
Image width for PDF print version |
Set width to 395 or less to display an image within the margins of the PDF print version. |
||||
Creating new paragraphs or single line spaces |
Enter will create a new paragraph, i.e. create one row space to commence a new paragraph. Shift + Enter will create a single line space, i.e. leave no row space to allow input of content on the next row. |
||||
Table navigation |
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate between cells of a table (not the Tab key). |
||||
Table Width |
Change the table width from 200 pixels to 100 percent. |
||||
Table Column Widths in PDF format |
Your browser automatically sets intelligent widths on columns - however a PDF document does not. If inconsistencies are found within the PDF version of the Outline, manually set the desired column widths in the first row of the table. |
