Academic Senate regulations relating to Subject Outlines (Academic Manual L6.3 - section 1.2 Issuing Subject Outlines) states:

A subject outline shall be prepared each session for each subject being taught by the University in a particular mode in that session.

You must select one (1) or multiple offerings for which to create the Outline during Step 2 of the Outline creation process.  Once the Outline is created, you may add or delete offerings within the Edit screen.  To learn more about adding/deleting offerings from the Outline via the Edit screen menu see 'Created For'.

Click on the 'Select an Offering' dropdown box to view the list of available subject offerings; click on a subject offering; then click the 'Add Offering' button.  Repeat until all the desired offerings appear in the 'Selected Offerings' list.  Offerings can be removed from the list by clicking on the red 'delete' icon against each added offering.

Creating an Outline for multiple Subject Offerings

Part 1.2 of the Subject Outline policy (http://www.csu.edu.au/acad_sec/academic-manual/docs/l6-3.rtf) states a subject outline shall be prepared each session for each subject being taught by the University in a particular mode in that session.

You may wish to select multiple offerings if you are the Subject Coordinator or Nominal Subject Coordinator for subject offerings whose cohorts should receive the same Subject Outline.

Please see When should I create an Outline for more than one subject offering?

Please also note that if you create an Outline for multiple offerings you will be able to:

develop a single Outline which will be published as a distinct Outline to each student cohort within the subject site for their enrolled subject offering.  For more information see Publication of a single Outline for multiple offerings.

you are able to provide different within certain sections of the Outline to accommodate differing informational needs across cohorts. For more information see Editing an Outline for multiple offerings.

Restrictions to the subject offerings available for selection

The offerings available for your selection may be restricted for various reasons.  Please refer to all three (3) below to determine why your list has restricted offerings available for your selection.

Rule

Description

SAL & SCMF Data

Your list will only include subjects that you have been listed on the Subject Availability List (SAL) and for which you have either a Subject Coordinator, or Nominal Subject Coordinator responsibility for as per the Subject Coordinator Maintenance Form (SCMF).

If a subject should be appearing in your list (and the rules below do not apply), please ask your School Office to adjust the SAL and/or SCMF.

Same session & template

Once the initial selection is made, the list will limit further selections to subject offerings within the same session and which use the same template.

One Outline per offering

Only one Outline per offering can be created therefore if another Subject Coordinator or Nominal Subject Coordinator with a responsibility for a subject offering has already created an Outline, the offering will not be available for your selection.

You are able to refer to your My Outlines list and click on the Roles icon to determine the Author of the Outline.  The current Author is able to transfer the Author role to other Coordinators using the Change Author function. See Change Author.
