View an Outline

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

What is the 'View' function?

'View' presents the Outline as it would be displayed to students within the subject site 'Subject Outline' tool. Within the 'View' screen, all editing functions and optional sections which have been left empty are removed from the body of the Outline and displayed below the line.
'View' provides access to the Downloadable/Print Version (PDF format) via the link displayed in the top right hand corner.  If there have been previous versions of the Outline, they will display above the line for access by staff only, i.e. students will not be provided access to superseded Outline versions within the subject site. To learn more, see Versioning.

See examples below.

How to 'View' an Outline

View can be accessed from My Outlines, Quality Assurance and/or a Search results lists depending on the Outline's status and/or access option.  Click on the Outline to initiate the pop-up menu - if the View option is not available you do not have the permissions required to view the Outline.  See Your 'My Outlines' List, Your 'Quality Assurance' List and/or Search Results for details regarding permissions to View and Outline.

Authors can also access View from the Edit screen - see Editing & Management tools.

The example below depicts the 'View' of an Outline.  All editing functions and optional sections which have been left empty have been removed from the body of the Outline and displayed below the line.  The PDF Downloadable/Print Version link is displayed in the top right hand corner.  If there were pervious versions of the Outline, they would display above the line for access by staff.
