When should I create an Outline for more than one subject offering?

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

You should create an Outline for more than one subject offering if:

You are the Subject Coordinator or Nominal Subject Coordinator for subject offerings whose cohorts should receive the same Subject Outline, you are able to select multiple subject offerings during Step 2 of the Outline creation process to create a single Outline which will be published as a distinct Outline to each student cohort within the subject site for their enrolled subject offering.  Once the Outline is created, you may add or delete offerings within the Edit screen.  To learn more about adding/deleting offerings from the Outline using the Edit screen menu see 'Created For'.

Please note that if you create an Outline for multiple offerings you are able to:

develop a single Outline which will be published as a distinct Outline to each student cohort within the subject site for their enrolled subject offering.  For more information see Publication of a single Outline for multiple offerings.

you are able to provide different within certain sections of the Outline to accommodate differing informational needs across cohorts. For more information see Editing an Outline for multiple offerings.

Please note that most sections (including Assessment Items) MUST be the same for all selected subject offerings.  If Outline content differs outside of the sections which allow authoring of different information, the Outline must be cloned then amended as necessary for other cohort/s.  See below.

You should NOT create an Outline for more than one subject offering if:
Assessment Items: The subject offerings have differences in the assessment tasks or assessment timelines - such cohorts will need to be provided with different Subject Outlines so they are provided the correct assessment items for their enrolled subject and so that downstream systems such as EASTS and Gradebook can provide the appropriate/accurate services for each cohort.  In this situation, cohorts will always need to be provided with a uniquely created Outline.

Other sections: If Outline content differs outside of the sections which allow authoring of different information, the Outline must be cloned then amended as necessary for other cohort/s. For more information see Editing an Outline for multiple offerings.

See Clone an Outline.
