The 'Quality Assurance Officer' role
The Quality Assurance (QA) Officer (QAO) role was created to support Faculty processes which uphold their Outline QA policy. If you have a responsibility to quality assure the Outline for a subject offering, your School Office will assign the Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) role to you via the Subject Coordinator Maintenance Form (SCMF). Once a Coordinator takes on the Author role by creating an Outline for the subject offering, it will appear in your 'Quality Assurance' list.
Permissions to action Outlines in your Quality Assurance list
Your ability to action an Outline within your 'QA' list is dependent on the status of the Outline, your current or potential QAO role and the access setting which is determined by the Author while drafting the Outline. Click on an Outline to display the functions available to you - however the colour of the Outline name is indicative of your level of permissions. Details are tabled below.
Note that the current Author will only be able to Edit an Outline from the QA list if the Outline has a status of either Draft or Revisions Required. Alternatively, Authors may initiate Edit from their My Outlines list.
To learn more about adding comments and performing QA see QA Outline screen.
Also see Change QAO to learn how the current QAO can handover their QAO permissions to another potential QAO.

All QA Officers assigned to a subject via the SCMF are potential QAOs until any QAO becomes the current QAO by either adding a comment to the Outline or completing QA on the Outline, i.e. a potential QAO will not obtain the current QAO role simply by entering the QA Outline screen unless they add a comment or complete QA. Once there is a current QAO, all potential QAOs will have their permissions to enter the QA Outline screen removed. |

Outlines displaying a red flag
A red flag icon displayed within the status column indicates that the Outline has been previously quality assured.

The purpose of this flag is to assist the QA Officer in identifying which Outlines have previously undergone QA so as to better target their further review to sections which have been edited since it was last quality assured. Sections which have changed since the Outline’s first Quality Assurance review (or varied since publication) are listed within the automated email notification which is sent to the QA Officer notifying them that the Outline is available for their review. If the Outline has been varied since publication, the Head of School will be sent such an email.
