Online Meeting (Wimba)
Online Meeting is a live, virtual classroom environment.
It allows synchronous online meetings with text chat, audio, video, application sharing and content display.
There are whiteboards and polling, break-out rooms for group discussion, quizzes, and emoticons for participant feedback.
Online Meeting can be used by:
Staff to:
- conduct tutorials for students;
- provide interactive presentations for students
- record sessions so:
- participants can review them later;
- those who could not attend so catch up on material they missed;
- hold meetings with students or other colleagues.
Students to:
- make presentations to their colleagues in the subject interact site;
- work collaboratively on class projects

Why use Online Meeting?
Online Meeting offers the opportunities to:
- make a real time connection with offcampus students (who otherwise may not meet the lecturer face to face).
- connect participants via the Internet (or dial in if the web isn’t possible).
- meet via the audio link and share applications and presentations (even if you don’t have a web cam).
- meet with colleagues for:
- research meetings;
- general staff meetings.
Staff who are not available can easily review as sessions can be recorded. so participants can review them later or those who could not attend so catch up on material they missed.
