Adding content to the Worksite Information box
Overview: What it does
On the Home page of each subject site or project site you will see areas for general information (Worksite Information) and synoptic views for Recent Announcements, the Calendar, and Recent Chat messages if these tools are available in the site.
Key concepts
Content options: You can display a web page or text in your Worksite Information box. For instructions, see Adding content to the Worksite Information box.
Privacy status: You can choose to hide your presence, thereby preventing other participants from seeing your name displayed in the red box below the tools menu. For instructions, see Changing your privacy status.
Things to consider
Whatever you display inside Worksite Information will be viewable by everyone with access to your site. (back to top)
Changing the size of your site's Worksite Information box
Note: To complete the procedures in this section, you must be assigned a role having the necessary permissions. To determine your role, see Participant roles in Permissions, Roles & Sites. For a basic understanding of roles and permissions, see Permissions, Roles & Sites: Overview.
To change the size of your site's Worksite Information box, follow these steps:
- Select a subject site or project site.
- If your site's homepage is not already open, from the menubar, click Home.
- In the Worksite Information box, click Options.
- To change the height of the box, from the "Frame Height" drop-down
menu, select a height. You cannot change the width of the box.
Note: Most web pages will display better in a taller box (600 or more pixels). - To save your changes, click Update Options. (back

Adding content to the Worksite Information box
Note: To complete the procedures in this section, you must be assigned a role having the necessary permissions. To determine your role, see Participant roles in Permissions, Roles & Sites. For a basic understanding of roles and permissions, see Permissions, Roles & Sites: Overview.
The Worksite Information box is located on a site's homepage in the column next to the menubar. You can either display a web page in the box or add text. Depending on the kind of content you want to provide, follow the appropriate instructions below.
Adding a web page
To make a web page appear in the Worksite Information box, follow these steps:
- Select a subject site or project site.
- If the site's homepage is not already open, click Home in the menubar.
- In the Worksite Information box, click Options.
- [Project sites only] In the "Title" field, enter a title for your Worksite Information box, or you can keep the default or current title. [Subject site title information not editable]
- Use the "Frame Height" drop-down list to set the height for
your Worksite Information box.
Note: Most web pages will display better in a taller box (600 or more pixels). - Under "Site Info URL", type the URL (you may omit the http:// prefix).
- Click Update Options.
Note: You may need to refresh your browser to view your new Worksite Information.
Adding a text description
To add a text description, follow these steps:
- Select the subject or project site.
- If the site's homepage is not already open, click Home in the menubar.
- In the Worksite Information box, click Options.
- [Project sites only] In the "Title" field, enter a title for your Worksite Information box, or you can keep the default or current title. [Subject site title information not editable]
- Use the "Frame height" drop-down list to set the height for your Worksite Information box.
- Under "Description", enter the text you wish to display.
- Click Update Options.
Note: You may need to refresh your browser to view your new Worksite Information.
Adding your own HTML file
To display an HTML file you have previously created and uploaded to Resources, follow these steps:
- Click Resources to view the Resources list.
- Copy the URL of the HTML file by right-clicking the file's name and then selecting your browser's Copy Shortcut, Copy Link Location, or Copy Link to Clipboard feature. (Alternatively, you can click the file's name to open it in a new browser window and then copy the URL from your browser's address box.)
- Click Home in the menubar.
- In the Worksite Information box, click Options.
- Paste the URL into the "Site Info URL" field.
- Click Update Options.
Note: You may need to refresh your browser to view your new Worksite Information.
