What is the OLE?
In September 2005 a report was submitted to the Information and Learning Systems Committee (ILSC) by the VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) Working Party titled “Towards the Enhancement of the CSU Virtual Learning Environment” . This report was recommended by ILSC for adoption by the Senior Executive Group (SEG). The recommendation was accepted and funding provided.
In February 2006 a kick off meeting was held to establish goals and teams for the Programme. It was agreed the Programme be called the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
The goals of the OLE were to provide:
- An integrated approach to the learning technologies
- An integrated approach both to the OLE projects and to other areas of the University technology environment
- Provide governance of the OLE projects in alignment with the University strategy
- Provide a longer term perspective than the projects by the establishment of an ongoing Programme
The Programme will also over time:
- Continue to review and assess the learning technology needs of teaching staff and students, and
- Monitor emerging technologies to determine their relevance to CSU
