Continuing Professional Development - Interactive Video Teaching Professional Development

IInteractive video-teaching (IVT) is a live two-way video and audio telecommunications connection between two sites (point-to-point), or between multiple sites (multi-point), which allows ‘real-time’ teaching/learning interaction between lecturer and students. It is used at CSU to deliver classes between campuses at Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Thurgoona and Wagga Wagga.

Using IVT as a medium for teaching does not require a lecturer to become an expert in technology use. It will mean, however, that you acquire a basic understanding about instructional delivery issues in IVT in order for your teaching to be effective.

The Interactive Video Teaching (IVT) professional development is specifically for Charles Sturt University teaching staff who are new to videoconferencing or who wish to develp their skills further.

The training covers both the technical and educational aspects of using the University's interactive videoteaching facilities. After completing the training, you should be able to:

  • operate the basic video teaching equipment in a competent fashion
  • develop and use teaching and learning resources effectively
  • apply interactive strategies for teaching and learning

The training is also designed to excite you about your teaching via IVT. It will help you design and deliver engaging IVT classes.

The training provides opportunities for demonstrations, hands-on use of the equipment, questions/discussion, and the presentation of an IVT lesson/lecture.
