This how-to guide for interactive web resources will show you how to create or access information of how to generate each type of interactive resource. Each of these resources can be created by yourself with assistance from an Educational Designer (ED), Educational Technologist, or alone. Click on each link to take you to an instruction page for each type of resource or strategy.

A webdilemma is a one page website that presents a real world problem and asks students to think, pair and share their insights gained through the exploration of web links offering different perspectives of the problem. This page has been created by Robert Parkes of CSU and contains a workshop designed to explain why you would use a webdilemma, a checklist and instructions to create a webdilemma and how to publish it on the CSU server. A webdilemma is also easily published on your CSU Interact subject site. In fact, it can be easily created in CSU Interact or as an html document in Microsoft Word. See your ED or the Learning Media Laboratory Coordinator for help with this. Click here to see an example of a webdilemma. This webdilemma is a way of presenting a case study with web links to guide students in their learning.

Webquest "Webquest: An inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by students is online. By providing links necessary to complete the quest, the student is able to focus on the material rather than spend time looking for it. The five-part WebQuest (Introduction, Task, Process, Evaluation and Conclusion) promotes critical thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation." (The Northeast Texas Consortium, 2002).

This link takes you to Webquest.org, a website designed to lead you through the process of designing and creating a webquest. The simple one page template can be used or you can branch out into web design and create your own site in Dreamweaver, Frontpage or another webquest software available on the web. A webquest offers the students the opportunity to explore a problem while being scaffolded in their learning.

Interactive forms Interactive forms or documents can be created so students can fill in answers and submit the form to the lecturer for feedback or marking.

Simulations Simulations provide the opportunity for students to experience real life situations without accessing actual experiences. In many areas students cannot access real events and simulations offer the ability to experience and react to a close example to real life.

Wikis Wikis are a collaborative tool that students can work on together to create documents, discuss issues, formulate policy, and report on cases. These are just some of the many uses of wikis. Go to the wiki page to discover some of the uses, benefits and drawbacks of wikis.

Blogs Blog is short for weblog - an online diary or journal which can be created alone or jointly, allowing others to see postings and comment on them. Click on this link to see more about blogs.
