Research shows that students learn better when they are engaged in their work. So how do we encourage students to become more interactive in their learning, both with each other and with the lecturer? One way is to develop interactive resources that encourage students to communicate, facilitate and guide their own and others' learning.

This webquest will enable you in discovering the who, what, when, where, why and how of creating interactive web based teaching resources and learning strategies.

Each page takes you through the processes required to design, develop and create an interesting and interactive web resource for use in both distance education and face to face classes. New pages linked within the site will open in the same window but to ensure easier navigation back to the webquest window, outside links will open in a new window.

The steps outline who can design and develop the resource, how you can design different types of resources, what types of interactive resources can be developed and the reasons why you might design each type, and how you may evaluate your work. References are given for the material included in the site.

Where do you start?

A good place to start is with a learning design. This page starts you on the design process.
