Pedagogy is generally regarded as the strategies of instruction, or a style of instruction. Pedagogy is effective when a range of strategies are used to encourage students to think actively, analyse and evaluate their learning, and apply their learning using real, authentic and challenging tasks. For those interested in constructivism this link could prove fascinating reading. Concept to Classroom (http://www.thirteen.org/edonline/concept2class/webquests/index.html) is a website that discusses the use of webquests, the benefits and how they can be put into practice. In fact the whole Ed Online website (http://www.thirteen.org/edonline/concept2class/index.html) is an interesting one to explore to shed further light on practical strategies for teaching and learning. Project, Problem, and Inquiry-based Learning This is a professional development website for educators and explains the above strategies. http://eduscapes.com/tap/topic43.htm retrieved May 2008 Information on Cooperative and Collaborative Learning can be found at following link. (http://www.thirteen.org/edonline/concept2class/index.html) Gardner's Multiple Intelligences are explained at this link.http://www.thirteen.org/edonline/concept2class/mi/index.html The paper linked below presents an interesting view on "Using Interactive Technologies in Teaching an Online Information Systems Course" and discusses the use of interactive resources and strategies as well as games based learning. This may help you decide what might suit your subject. One of the strategies discussed is the use of simulations to represent real life situations to provide students with the opportunity to explore concepts and apply knowledge. CSU is involved at present (2009) in an ALTC grant eSims project to develop capacity in building simulations. These simulations can be seen by contacting Deb Murdoch at the Wagga Campus.
