The Library Indigenous Liaison Team focuses on improving Indigenous higher education outcomes through the enhancement of Library resources and services to support Indigenous culture and community. The team is working closely with University Indigenous Support staff to develop and strengthen positive partnerships to improve access to library resources and services, including information literacy instruction.
To facilitate the delivery of cross-cultural resources and services the team is currently engaged in:
- Liaising with Indigenous Student Services
- Attending meetings/functions held by Indigenous centres
- Working with Academics to embed resources in a familiar online learning environment
- Supporting the cultural experience for Indigenous students through Library web pages that encourage a sense of community and facilitate learning such as Indigenous Studies subject support and Information for Indigenous Students
Future plans for the team include:
- Exploring the creation of dedicated learning spaces within the Library website that provide accessible and responsive library services to our Indigenous students
- Strengthening of relationships with Indigenous Centres, Academics and Indigenous Student Services
