China trip for CSU Librarian
In March 2010, CSU representatives from the International School of Business & Partnerships, Office of International Relations, Division of Student Services, Division of Marketing, and the Division of Library Services travelled to Hong Kong University SPACE, Yangzhou University, Jilin University of Finance & Economics, and Yunnan University of Finance & Economics, meeting program coordinators and academic staff, and participating in orientation sessions for students.
The Library was represented by Greg Fry (Team Leader, Faculty Liaison) who met with staff and students at each institution and delivered orientation sessions on Library resources and services.
Greg investigated:
- staff and student needs,
- local library resources,
- awareness and use of CSU Library resources
- possible strategies and resources required to enable local staff and students to make the most effective use of CSU Library resources and services.
The visit was particularly valuable in that it enabled the Library to gain a first-hand understanding of the needs of local staff and students, establish contact with key administrative and academic staff and identify areas where the Library can collaborate with other Divisions and Schools to further enhance and develop the offshore partner program.
