Assistive Technology Facilities
Charles Sturt University has assistive technology facilities at the Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Albury-Wodonga and Wagga Wagga campus Libraries.
Bookings
To utilise the Assistive Technology Facilities users will need to be registered with Student Services and make bookings through the Library Disability Officers.
Software
Below is a list of assistive software that is currently available. Each campus has different software, however your particular user requirements can be accommodated. Most adaptive technology software interacts with a host of commonly used software packages found on computers within CSU. Users are encouraged to contact your Campus Disability Support Staff before term starts to become familiar with the technology.
- AWS 6.0 - screen reading software.
- Kurzweil 3000 version 8 - scanning/reading software.
- Dragon Naturally Speaking 8 - voice recognition program.
- TextAloud 2.0 - voice synthesis to convert text into spoken audio.
- OmniPage 14 - Pro Optical Character Recognition Software, which can be used in conjunction with a scanner.
Equipment
The rooms are fitted with adjustable height desks, ergonomic chairs and internal phones. Each library also has a closed circuit television to further assist those with vision impairment.
