Sustainability Projects
Achieved
- The introduction of, in cooperation with Business Services, new Multifunction devices which allow scan and email functionality, reduce unnecessary printing and toner use, thus saving energy and paper throughout the Division.
In progress
- Urn timers for all campus tearooms – constant hot water urns consume unnecessary energy overnight. By having simple timers on, the Division can have the urns turned off from 8 pm – 8 am every day.
- Turning off computers at the end of the day – SWP encourages all staff to turn off their computers at the end of the day.
- Sustainability portal on Library website to increase awareness and transparency of sustainability efforts within the Division.
Forthcoming
- Waste management changes within the library (as part of a University wide change). This includes more recycling bins and less general waste bins, removing bin liners and changing the default bins to wastepaper only.
