What is a Journal Database?
A Journal Database is a searchable collection of journal articles. Some databases also contain newspaper articles, research papers, book chapters, TV clips and other types of information.
Why should I use databases?
They provide you with authoritative online articles that you can't find by searching the internet.

A+ Education |

A+ Education is an indexing and full text database that provides access to the scanned images of journal articles from published material on all aspects of education. A+ Education is based on the Australian Education Index (AEI), which is an indexing and abstracting database produced by the Cunningham Library at the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).
Of the 700+ journals indexed in AEI, there are 200+ comprehensively indexed journals and it is from these that the full-text articles in A+ Education are mainly sourced.
Other source documents include monographs, research reports, theses, conference papers, legislation, parliamentary debates, newspaper articles, and Internet material. Articles and reports by Australian authors or about Australian education published in overseas sources are also included.
Subject coverage includes curriculum, educational research, information science, librarianship, management, policy administration, psychology, sociology, teaching and training.

Academic Search Premier is a huge multi-disciplinary database that covers just about all the disciplines and subject taught and studied at Charles Sturt University. It is often a good place to start when looking for material.
It contains indexing and abstracts of more than 8,100 journals, and of these, it included the full text from nearly 4,500 publications, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. Full text titles are available in HTML full-text and/or (searchable) PDF format.
Searchable cited references are provided for 1,000 titles.
Coverage varies.
CSU Library provides easy access to various "packages" of EBSCOhost databases, in the areas of Business, Education, Health, and Psychology, and Academic Search Premier is included in all four packages.

The resource has two components
It is the ACM Digital Library that is the full-text resource. CSU’s subscription includes access to more than 320 publications, including journals, magazines, newsletters, transactions, proceedings, and publications by affiliated organisations.
ACM Library offers a number of database features, including searching and browsing, and personalised services including saving results and queries, and setting up Table-Of- Contents (TOC) alerts.

ARI is an index covering more than 80 religious and theological serials published in Australia or New Zealand and representing all religious traditions. Related areas of study such as history and sociology are also covered.
ARI indexes articles, notes, and book reviews and these can be searched by title, author, and/or subject. Records include bibliographic information plus details of library holdings.
ARI is provided by the Australian and New Zealand Theological Library Association (ANZTLA); indexing and editing is done by ANZTLA members.
Once logged in to ARI, users also have access to AULOTS (Australasian Union List of Serials in Theological Collections).

The ARROW Discovery Service, provided by the National Library of Australia, allows for searching Australia’s research repositories. Records are harvested from the the hosting repositories via the Open Archives Initiative-Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). Each record found through this service will link back to a record in the original repository. The contents of the ARROW Discovery Service are also indexed by Google.
The service also searches several other collections of Australian research, including Australian Policy Online, and Australasian Digital Theses Program.
Find all of the works by a researcher (even if they have moved universities), or a topic of research (from its beginnings to the current day), or the combined output of a consortium of universities. Search by region or campus, or type of content.
The research itself may be in any form - published or unpublished; text, image or dataset; historical or current. The ARROW project is keen to include as many sources of Australian research as possible. Guidelines for the contribution of records are available in the ARROW Discovery Service Harvesting Guide. The online resource known as ATLA Religion Database and ATLAS, produced by the American Theological Library Association (ATLA), is now available as an Ovid database, utilising all the database features of the Ovid interface.
The ATLA Religion Database is a citation database which includes citations from 650 journals, essay citations from 14,000 multi-author works, and book review citations.
ATLAS Full Text Plus is produced by the ATLA’s Center for Electronic Resources in Theology and Religion. The ATLAS (American Theological Library Association Serials) project provides online versions of the entire runs of a core collection of more than 50 significant scholarly periodicals in the field of religion, most of which go back to 1949.
Subject coverage includes biblical studies, world religions, church history, and religious perspectives on social issues, and incorporates a wide selection of Christian traditions (including Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Evangelical, and Pentecostal), plus Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shinto, Taoism, Confucianism, and other religious traditions.
This combined product includes all the records in the ATLA Religion Database with all ATLAS links to the PDFs. The full file covers data from 1949 to the present, and is update quarterly.

It provides free internet access to Australasian legal materials, and claims to be one of the largest sources of legal materials on the net, with over 2 million searchable documents.
AustLII publishes public legal information, including primary legal materials (legislation, treaties and decisions of courts and tribunals, and case law); and secondary legal materials created by public bodies for purposes of public access (for example, law reform and royal commission reports). There is also a substantial collection of law journals.

AustLit – The Australian Literature Resource - is a not-for-profit collaboration between the National Library of Australia and 12 Australian universities, which indexes and describes Australian literature published in a range of print and electronic information sources.

Its entries point to biographical information in a wide variety of sources, including Who's Whos, biographical dictionaries, topical and local histories, and published family histories. Entries cover all periods of Australian history.
Each record contains, where available, the full name of the person in question, together with details of birth date and location, death date and location, the source of the entry, and whether or not a photograph or illustration of the person was included in that source. Each record contains only those details that were included in the particular source.
