Factiva is the successor to Dow Jones Interactive and Reuters Business Briefing, previously produced by Dow Jones Reuters Business Interactive.

It is a global news and business information service. It covers the humanities, science, health, education and other subjects but has a focus on business, including business news, and company and industry research.

The database integrates content from newspapers (including The Age, and The SMH), Dow Jones newswires, business journals, market research reports, analyst reports, and websites. Much of the material is available in full-text.

Coverage varies, from 1980 - .

Family & Society Plus is a database containing articles from published and unpublished material on research, policy, and practice issues about, or of relevance to, Australian families. It is based on an indexing and abstracting database produced by the Australian Institute of Family Studies, but with the addition of some full-text material.

Source documents range from journals and conference papers to annual reports, bibliographies, and theses.

Subject coverage includes: children and child development; adolescence and youth; the aged and services to the aged; marriage and divorce; adoption and foster care; child abuse and domestic violence; child care; family economics; counselling and therapy; employment and unemployment; family law; health; housing; minority families; population studies; social change and social issues; social and community services; and sexual attitudes and behaviours.

From January 1995 the focus on child abuse and child protection issues was expanded because at this time the National Child Protection Clearing House was established at the Institute.

The Far North Queensland Collection (FNQ), produced by the Library, Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE, is a bibliographic database that was established in 1994 to meet the needs of the 2,500 Indigenous students at the Institute. By the beginning of 1998 some 50,000 items were held with some 22,000 items entered on the FNQ Collection database. Approximately 8,000 records are added each year.

Scope: The Collection covers the geographical region of Far North Queensland, from Ingham in the south to Doomadgee in the west and encompassing the Torres Strait, Gulf, Cape York Peninsula, Daintree and the Atherton Tableland. Coverage 1994 - January 1999.

FSTA is an index and abstracts database of literature relating to food science, food technology and food-related human nutrition literature.

FSTA specialist scientists monitor approximately 1800 journals and many other types of literature (books, conference proceedings, theses, patents, standards, legislation, etc.) and select the items relevant to the food sector. They then condense each one into a short, highly informative abstract giving the key points and conclusions, and assign index terms.
