Informaworld is a one-stop site hosting the full text of more than 1000 eJournals published by Taylor & Francis, Routledge, Psychology Press, Lawrence Erlbaum, Haworth Press, and Multilingual Matters, as well as citations from hundreds of other journals.

Prior to May 2009, CSU Library had access to only the full-text of the Routledge collection of education journals, but now has access to a much wider collection of journals covering a range of subject areas.

One of the benefits of Informaworld to CSU users is that it closes the “embargo” gap for a large number of eJournals already available via EBSCOhost: that is, it provides the full-text of recent issues of journals which are not available (for the most recent 12 months) in EBSCOhost.

The collection works like a database and offers a range of browse, search, and saved search options.

A standard search will return results that are both citation-only and full-text. SFX links are NOT available in this database, but users can limit their searches to (predominantly) full-text results by ticking the “My subscriptions only” box.

The Humanities and Social Sciences Collection is one of Informit’s e-Library collections. These collections are different from other Informit databases in that they are entirely full-text, and include full-text content from not only journals, but also monographs and books, conference proceedings, research papers, and reference materials.

All broad humanities and social sciences fields are covered, including:
Agriculture, Arts, Asian Studies, Business, Cultural Studies, Education, Health, Medicine, History, Indigenous Studies, Law, Media, Political Science, Reference, Social Sciences, Science and Technology.

Content is particularly sourced from Australian academic and professional associations, interest groups and research centres.

Australian Public Affairs - Full Text (APA-FT), is an indexing and full text database that provides access to the scanned images of journal articles from published material on the social sciences and humanities. It is based on the journal indexing of the database Australian Public Affairs Information Service (APAIS), which is produced by the National Library of Australia.

Of the more than 2000 journals indexed, full-text access is included to nearly 500 journals, though more than half of these are only selectively indexed (that is, not all the items in the original issue of the journal are included in the database).

Subject coverage includes Australian business, health, current affairs, economics, humanities, law, leisure, literature, politics, and social sciences.

Academic Search Premier is a huge multi-disciplinary database that covers just about all the disciplines and subject taught and studied at Charles Sturt University. It is often a good place to start when looking for material.

It contains indexing and abstracts of more than 8,100 journals, and of these, it included the full text from nearly 4,500 publications, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. Full text titles are available in HTML full-text and/or (searchable) PDF format.

Searchable cited references are provided for 1,000 titles.

CSU Library provides easy access to various "packages" of EBSCOhost databases, in the areas of Business, Education, Health, and Psychology, and Academic Search Premier is included in all four packages.

JSTOR is a searchable archive of full text journals.

JSTOR is an archive of journal backfiles. IT DOES NOT CONTAIN THE CURRENT ISSUES OF THESE JOURNAL TITLES. Each journal publisher has determined what years will be available through the database. In some instances publishers have provided all backfiles excluding the current year. For other titles backfiles may exclude the current and preceding two, three or four years.

CSU has access to following JSTOR "collections":

Arts & Sciences I. Established in 1997, JSTOR's first collection includes core journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. This collection also contains titles in ecology, mathematics, and statistics. Overall, there are 119 titles in fifteen disciplines.

Arts & Sciences II. The Arts & Sciences II Collection is home to 124 titles. This collection adds depth to many disciplines introduced in Arts & Sciences I, such as economics, history, and Asian studies. Arts & Sciences II also offers core journals in several new disciplines, such as archaeology, classics, and African, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and Slavic studies.

Arts & Sciences III. Arts & Sciences III includes journals in languages and literature, as well as essential titles in the fields of music, film studies, folklore, performing arts, religion, and the history and study of art and architecture. There are 150 titles in this collection.

Biological Sciences. The Biological Sciences Collection brings together the 29 journals available in JSTOR’s existing Ecology & Botany Collection with more than 100 titles that span the sciences. The collection is particularly strong in ecology and evolutionary biology, plant and animal sciences, paleontology, and conservation.

SAGE Journals Online is the platform providing online full-text access to the approximately 485 journals published by SAGE. These journals are in the subject areas of Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, Technology, and Medicine.

CSU staff and students have some full-text access to most of the journals in this database.

The platform allows for searching within individual journal titles or across the whole database, and for browsing journals by title, or articles by discipline. The My Tools feature allows for customising the product, including creating alerts, saving citations and searches, and setting up “My Favourite Journals”.

All SAGE journal content is peer-reviewed with 46% of journals ranked in the Thomson Scientific 2005 Journal Citation Reports®.

Coverage varies according to each journal, but extends as far back as 1879.

Cambridge Journals Online includes approximately 100 full text journals in a range of subject areas, published by Cambridge University Press.

This package gives access to Jane’s online service, which is split into two areas – the Public Area and the Client Area. The Public Area gives access to the content of the Jane’s website that is freely available to all visitors, while the Client Area gives access to subscription-only products from Jane’s Information Group.

CSU’s Client Area includes full-text access to 10 subscribed journals in the areas of defence, security, terrorism, and international affairs. Note that Jane’s call these journals “products” or “datasets”. They are:

The Research Tools tab also allows for searching across all of the subscription-only content of Jane’s online service (but full-text access is restricted to the 10 journals listed above).

Other features of Jane’s online service are personalised search and alert services, and Jane's News Briefs, a weekly email service offering the latest Jane's headlines and abstracts, delivered by email.

Coverage varies with each journal title, with archived information available as far back as 17 years.

This is an index to the archive of the Sydney Morning Herald spanning the years 1955 to 1990. The archive contains 820,000 pages from almost 13,000 issues. No new material is being added to the archive.

CSU does not have access to the full-text of the archive, so it is available here as an index only.

CSU staff and students would need to locate, or request, the full-text of articles in microfilm copies of the paper held at Bathurst, Thurgoona, and Wagga Campus Libraries.

More recent material from the Sydney Morning Herald is available online in full-text in the Factiva database (from September 1986) and the ANZ Newsstand database (from 1996).

Current Contents includes tables of contents and citations from journals from all disciplines. Abstracts are available for approximately 75% of records. Covers more than 7,000 international journals for the last five years.

There is no full-text of the articles in Current Contents but the SFX linking software can be used to locate full-text either in another online database or in a print holding in the library catalogue. In this database SFX is activated by clicking on the "Links" icon located beneath each citation.

Web of Science is an amalgamation of 3 citations databases including .....

• Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI): 1992-present
• Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED): 1992-present
• Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI): 1992-present

These databases can be searched individually or together, and can be used to locate articles by a range of criteria. They can also be used to locate citing articles (ie articles that have cited a specific reference).

There is no full-text of the articles but the SFX linking software can be used to locate full-text either in another online database or in a print holding in the library catalogue. In this resource SFX is activated by clicking on the "Links" icon located beneath each citation.

• The Arts & Humanities Citation Index is a multidisciplinary database covering the journal literature of the arts and humanities. It indexes 1,144 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals, as well as covering individually selected, relevant items from over 6,800 major science and social science journals.

• The Science Citation Index Expanded is a multidisciplinary database, with searchable abstracts, covering the journal literature of the sciences. It indexes more than 5,700 major journals across 164 scientific disciplines.

• The Social Sciences Citation Index is a multidisciplinary database, with searchable abstracts, covering the journal literature of the social sciences. It indexes more than 1,725 journals spanning 50 disciplines, as well as covering individually selected, relevant items from over 3,300 of the world's leading scientific and technical journals.

Australian Historic Records Register (AHRR) is produced by the Australian Bicentennial Authority with assistance from the National Library of Australia. It is a list of paper-based records held in private hands in Australia. Coverage -1988.

A Chronology of Australian Historic & Current Events (AUSCHRON), is an information database which provides a listing of significant events in Australian history with emphasis on current events, and covering topics from politics and law to the arts and sport.

Source documents for current events are the main daily state and territory papers, chiefly The Age and The Australian, and national news journals, reports and other publications where relevant. For historical events, source documents include contemporary records such as explorers' journals and newspapers, together with secondary sources such as books and journal articles.

Includes Australian historical events in all subject areas with particular reference to significant events from 1993 to the present.

The Australian Chronicles: An Index to Sources of Australian Biography (CHRONICLES), is a resource designed to assist genealogists, historians and researchers locate biographical information on as wide a range of Australians as possible.

Its entries point to biographical information in a wide variety of sources, including Who's Whos, biographical dictionaries, topical and local histories, and published family histories. Entries cover all periods of Australian history.

Each record contains, where available, the full name of the person in question, together with details of birth date and location, death date and location, the source of the entry, and whether or not a photograph or illustration of the person was included in that source. Each record contains only those details that were included in the particular source.

Australian Industrial Relations Database (IREL), produced by the Library of the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts published and unpublished material on industrial relations and related topics.

Source documents are monographs, academic and current affairs journals; and less accessible publications, such as newsletters of trade union and employer groups, working papers, reports, annual reports, and conference proceedings.

Subject coverage includes industrial conflict, wages and conditions, labour market economics, equal employment opportunity, labour law, occupational health and safety, workplace reform, enterprise bargaining, and trade union restructuring.

This database, produced by the University College Library, Australian Defence Force Academy includes pre-1980 Australian, New Zealand and Papua-New Guinean military history and related topics.

Subjects include wars, campaigns, and battles; defence policy and strategy; defence organisation and force structure; issues relating to individual military services or units; political, social, and economic aspects of military history; biographies; weapons and equipment; anti-war movements, anti-conscription movements, and anti-base movements; civil military relations; alliances, foreign bases, and military relations generally with foreign powers; military involvement in domestic or overseas peace-keeping operations; military involvement in domestic or overseas disaster relief operations; military history of colonial forces in the Australasian region; and intelligence services and operations.

Australian Heritage Bibliography (AHB), formerly HERA, is produced by the Australian Heritage Commission. It is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles from published and unpublished material on Australia's natural and cultural environment.

Subjects include: national parks; endangered species; coasts; forests; wetlands; rivers; geological features; wilderness areas; world heritage sites; aboriginal rock art sites, ceremonial grounds and sacred sites; important historical and archaeological sites, and historic buildings and structures; and historic towns and precincts.

Oxford Journals is a collection of more than 200 full-text journals published by Oxford University Press.

These journals are from a variety of disciplines including the arts, humanities, law, life sciences, medicine, science, and social science.

Coverage is generally 1998 - . CSU users should have access to all post-1996 material in full-text.

Ingenta is a database of current article summaries from more than 20,000 multidisciplinary journals with links to the full text of over 4,500 titles. The database can be searched for free.

CSU subscribes to a limited number of full-text journals via Ingenta.

For journals to which CSU does not subscribe, users can, for the majority of articles, choose a pay-per-view option, with electronic, fax, or Ariel delivery from Ingenta.

ScienceDirect contains over 1700 Elsevier Science journals, most from 1996 forward and some from 1993 forward. New titles are added on a regular basis.

ScienceDirect also contains full-text journals from other participating publishers.

ScienceDirect currently currently offers the full text of journals from AIChE, CRC Press, and ASM International, and either host or link to the full text content of Cell Press titles. It is the goal of ScienceDirect to offer subscribers an electronic full text "library" on a scale greater than anything previously available, containing content from a variety of leading STM publishers. CSU does not subscribe to all the full text titles included in ScienceDirect.

Factiva is the successor to Dow Jones Interactive and Reuters Business Briefing, previously produced by Dow Jones Reuters Business Interactive.

It is a global news and business information service. It covers the humanities, science, health, education and other subjects but has a focus on business, including business news, and company and industry research.

The database integrates content from newspapers (including The Age, and The SMH), Dow Jones newswires, business journals, market research reports, analyst reports, and websites. Much of the material is available in full-text.

Coverage varies, from 1980 - .

ANZ Newsstand is an online newspaper service provided by ProQuest and covering the full-text of Australian and New Zealand newspapers.

Titles from Fairfax (including The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald) and News Ltd (including The Australian, The Adelaide Advertiser, and The Herald Sun) are included, together with transcripts and wire feeds from ABC programs, and with leading regional and local newspaper titles from Australia and New Zealand.

Coverage varies, but most newspaper content is available from the mid- to late-nineties.

afr.com is the exclusive source of full-text articles from Fairfax Business Media publications including The Australian Financial Review and Business Review Weekly, but also over twenty other Fairfax news and information sources including the major Fairfax dailies and even The New York Times.

Content from sources such as The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The New York Times includes all (not just Business-related) material.

afr.com also includes a range of financial charts and investment tools.

The TVNews database is a new (August 2007) Informit Media database, available via Informit Online.

It indexes Australian television news, current affairs, and selected documentaries from the free-to-air networks with links to the digitised video content in a compressed format. All individual stories from a particular broadcast are indexed with a detailed synopsis. TVNews is updated daily, with stories appearing on an evening news broadcast generally being available for access the next morning.

The video for each story or documentary is available in WMV format as a progressive download, allowing viewing to begin before the total video file is transferred. Items range from under 30 seconds for short news stories, to over an hour for selected documentaries. Transcripts are NOT included.
