Libraries Australia
Borrowers from Other Universities:
Students and staff of participating Australian universities may register with Charles Sturt University Library as reciprocal borrowers under the University Library Australia (ULA) - Borrowing Scheme.
Refer to CSU's Reciprocal Borrowing Guide to find out how to register for borrowing at CSU and the available services.
Community Borrowers:
Adult members of the community are eligible to register for 12 months CSU Library membership. An application form and details of borrowing conditions are available in the Community Borrowers Guide.
CSU Staff and Students:
- may borrow from any CSU Library if you are in Australia. Staff and students located outside Australia are welcome to access the collection by requesting copies of articles and chapters of books to be scanned and emailed to you.
- are able to register as borrowers at many libraries throughout Australia. If you are studying overseas you are welcome to request a Letter of Introduction from a CSU Library to assist you in accessing a library near you. Use the Ask a Question Web Form to request a Letter of Introduction.
- as conditions of use, eligibility and charges vary widely for accessing non-CSU Libraries you may need to contact the library of your choice for further information.
University Library Australia (ULA)
Staff and students of CSU wishing to register with participating Australian university libraries should refer to the ULA brochure. More detailed information and links to the participating libraries can be found at the ULA website. You will be required to present a current CSU ID card and proof of current enrolment or, for staff, employment (e.g. recent CSU pay slip). You will need to register in person and must comply with the terms and conditions of borrowing at the host library. It is advisable to check these conditions before you register. Some libraries charge a joining fee of $50.00. Registration expires on 28 February of the following year, regardless of when you join. You will need to re-register each year.
Other agreements
The University is a member of UNILINC, a cooperative library network. As a student of CSU, you may borrow from any CSU library and in person from participating UNILINC member libraries. It should be noted that borrowing conditions will vary at different libraries. You will need to present your CSU ID card.
CSU Library also has reciprocal borrowing agreements with Canberra Institute of Technology and Wodonga TAFE libraries. Your CSU student identification card is required for borrowing.
Borrowing from other libraries must be in person. Regulations and loan conditions which apply at other libraries must be observed.
If you cannot attend a library which has an item/s you need you may make an Interlibrary Loan Request for the item via CSU Library. Charges apply for interlibrary loans.

Libraries Australia: Kinetica search service
Libraries Australia is a service which allows you to search for and locate material in Australian and overseas libraries. e.g. Library of Congress, British Library Catalogue, Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (CISTI), Consortium of [British] University Research Libraries, [US] Library of Congress Catalogue, Singapore National Union Catalogue, Te Puna New Zealand National Bibliographic Database).
Libraries Australia can not be used to request books, journals or copies of articles directly from 'other libraries'. Items not held by the CSU Library may be available via Interlibrary Loan.
