Your Library Out Loud Podcast:
Introduction to the Library
Transcript
Welcome to the CSU Library's introductory podcast on Library Services.
Did you know that CSU has campuses at Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga? We also have a campus located in Ontario Canada.
The libraries at Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Orange and Wagga Wagga are located in their Campus’ Learning Commons. The Learning Commons are designed to be multifunctional student-focussed spaces which offer access to a variety of service points, study spaces and facilities. These include the 24 Hour Zone, computers, printers and photocopiers, Value Adding Machine, Assistive Technology Room and parenting rooms. Student Central and Cashier facilities are also located within the Learning Commons buildings to provide a first point of contact for all of your student enquiries and financial matters.
Each Library’s opening hours can be found on the library homepage under the About Your Library link. A full range of library services are offered from 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. A basic service which includes loans, returns and a virtual information service is offered on evenings and weekends. Opening hours will vary according to session and non-session times and residential schools periods.
As well as desktop computers, most libraries have laptops which are available for loan. A limited number of laptops can be borrowed overnight. The CSU Wireless network is available at all libraries, however, if you want to bring in your own laptop you will need to connect to the CSU network. A current CSU username and password will also be required to access the network.
All public access computers and laptops can print to the network printers in the Learning Commons. Colour and black and white printing facilities are available. Please make sure you have print credit on your account before printing.
Photocopiers are also available within the Learning Commons. To photocopy, just put credit on your CSU ID card at the Value Adding machine before using it at the EPay terminal situated beside the photocopier. Credit can also be added via the Cashier or online through your CSU Student website.
There may be times in your studies when you need to get together in a group for discussion. All CSU Libraries have group study rooms for student use. The Wagga Wagga Library also has individual long term and one day lockable study carrels. The Albury-Wodonga group study rooms have audio/visual facilities and data projectors to allow the use of DVDs and laptop display.
Each library has an AskUs desk where we will be only too happy to assist you with your query. Alternatively you can contact a librarian online via the Ask a Librarian Live Chat or Web Form link on the library homepage, or post a query on the Library Forum. We can also be contacted by our toll free phone number on 1800 808 369. Campus library contact numbers are also available from the library homepage under "Contacts", this is located under the ‘About Your Library’ link.
