Your Library Out Loud Podcast:
Introduction to the Library
Transcript
Welcome to the CSU Library's introductory podcast on Library Services.
Did you know that CSU has campuses at Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Ontario and Wagga Wagga as well as an interactive learning centre at Dubbo? The Ontario Campus library is small but has a developing collection in Education.
All of our CSU Libraries are open Monday to Friday with some weekend coverage. A full range of library services are offered from 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. A basic service which includes loans, returns and basic information services is offered on evenings and weekends.
Library opening hours for each library can be checked on the library homepage under the opening hours link. Any variations will be listed on this page and will also be displayed on a notice in the library. Opening hours will vary according to semester and non-semester times. Opening hours for residential schools can also be found on this page.
As well as desktop computers, most libraries have laptops which are available for a four hour loan period through the day. A limited number of laptops can now be borrowed overnight. These may be borrowed out half an hour before closing time and need to be returned on the next working day. The CSU Wireless network is available at all libraries for those using CSU laptops or you can bring your own laptop and connect to the network. A current CSU Username and password is required to access the network.
Need to print your latest assignment? All of the library's public access computers are connected to the CSU Network and can print from the network printer in your library. Please make sure you have print credit on your account before printing.
Perhaps you have found an article in one of our print journals that you would like to read later. Photocopiers are available for copying print or microform material. All you need is your student card. To photocopy, just put credit on your card at the Value Adding or EFTPOS machine before using it at the EPay terminal situated beside the photocopier.
There may be times in your studies when you need to get together in a group. All Australian CSU Libraries have group study rooms for loan. The Wagga Wagga Library has individual long term and one day lockable study carrels. Ask the staff at the Loans desk for more information.
Bathurst Library has a Learning commons with 24 hour access to computers, printing, toilets, assistive technology for students with disabilities and the best coffee on campus. Out of hours access will require your student ID card.
Similarly, the new Thurgoona Learning Commons has a 24 hour space, assistive technology equipment and various group learning and social spaces. There are specially designed areas for researchers, and for parents who need to bring children onto campus while they study.
A parents room is also available at Wagga Wagga Library. This room has a study space equipped with a computer for catalogue and database use, feeding and nappy changing facilities as well as toys to keep the little ones entertained.
If you have a video or DVD you need to watch, all Australian CSU Libraries have rooms for individual and group viewing. Group viewing rooms may be booked ahead of time at the loans desk. If you need help, Library staff are available to help you with using our library resources and accessing our services.
Each library has an AskUs desk where we will be only too happy to assist you with your query or you can contact a librarian online via the Ask a Question live chat or webform link on the library homepage or post a query or suggestion on the library forum. We can also be contacted by phone. Contact numbers are available from the library homepage under "Contacts". For Distance Education students there is a toll-free number.
The library also has a blog with a link to it from the library homepage. The blog is used for library posts such as library news, database information, study tips and new books and DVDs.
