Open URL Links

The URL > OpenURL Link option allows you to link directly from a reference to a journal article in an EndNote library, to the full text of that article found in one of the CSU library databases. The OpenURL link is created using information in the selected EndNote record, eg. journal title, issn, year, volume, issue number, page numbers, and the address of the CSU SFX link resolver.

Note: This command has no relation to the URL field found in EndNote references or the URL > Open Link command on the References menu (which opens the specific URL found in the URL field).

Setting up EndNote to work with CSU SFX link resolver:

  1. Open EndNote
  2. Select Edit > Preferences > Find Full Text
  3. Replace the existing text in the OpenURL Path with:
    http://sfx.unilinc.edu.au:9003/csu
  4. Replace any existing text in the URL field (under Authenticate with) with: http://ezproxy.csu.edu.au/login?url=
  5. Click Okay

To link to the required journal article reference from your EndNote library:

  • Select the required journal article in the EndNote library
  • Select References > URL > OpenURL

The SFX Services for this record should then be displayed in a new browser window, with either, a link to the full text article found in one of the CSU library databases, or an option to check the library catalogue for print holdings.
