EndNote X1 @ CSU - Import records into EndNote
Some databases do not allow users to export records from a database search directly into EndNote. In this case database records may be saved as a text file and then imported into EndNote, using a 'filter' that copies the records into the correct EndNote fields. Records can be used to create a new EndNote library or added to an existing one.
Save your database search results, including any specific fields that you may require, e.g. abstract, subject headings, keywords, as a text file.
- Open EndNote library
- Select File and then Import
- Click on Choose File button, and browse folders to highlight and then Open the saved text (.txt) file
- Use the Import Option: drop down arrow to select Other Filters to display the list of filters available in the EndNote; ../Filters folder, then highlight and Choose the required filter
- Click on Import button to import the file
