Interlibrary Loans (ILL) - Free Interlibrary Loans Service (FRILLS)

CSU Academic/Research Staff and PhD/Masters/Honours students can place requests for material not held by CSU Library using the ILL Request link in Primo Search.

  • Items for personal use attract charges. See: Standard ILL Service.
  • Undergraduate/Graduate Certificate/Graduate Diploma students and general staff, are not eligible for this service. See: Standard ILL Service for options.
  • Before making a request for a loan, please check Primo Search for availability.
  • Before making a request for a copy of a journal article, please check Primo Search for availability.
  • If a book is not available through a CSU library or you need a journal article that we do not hold, we are now able to offer CSU Academic/Research Staff and PhD/Masters/Honours students a FREE interlibrary loans service. Library staff will find the item for you and, where possible, articles will be sent straight to your email. Books will be available for collection from your campus library or posted to DE students and off-campus staff. Some charges may apply for non-standard services or delivery. The library will contact you in these cases.
  • If you are eligible for FRILLS, search Primo Search for the book/journal that you require and if we do not hold the material, click on the ILL Request link and complete the form.
  • Delivery time for Interlibrary loan requests depends on a number of factors and can vary from as little as 1-2 days up to 2 weeks. Copies of articles are usually obtained more quickly than loan items, because of the speed and ease of electronic delivery. Other factors affecting delivery time include: accuracy and fullness of the citation provided (by the requestor); availability of the item; and location and turnaround time of the supplier.
  • Loan items can be delivered only within Australia; copy requests can be delivered electronically worldwide.
  • Extra charges for non-standard services (for example, "Rush" or "Express" services) are borne by the individual or by the Research Centre or School of the person making the request (with the agreement of the Research Centre/School). For information about non-standard ILL service levels, see our FAQ on What are the service level standards?
  • Off-campus staff and students please note: CSU Library will pay the cost of forwarding Interlibrary loan items to you but you are responsible for return costs to CSU. (Loans obtained through an Interlibrary loan must be returned to CSU Library – not to the library that owns the item.)

All requests for copies of journal articles or book chapters require that you agree to the Copyright Declaration on the form.
