Where a requested eReserve item is a fulltext article in one of the library databases, the requestor will be offered a link to add to their Interact site or Subject Forum as an alternative to the library cataloguing the item to eReserve. This option provides a faster service and is a once-only task, as links can be maintained permanently this way, while copyright law prevents permanent maintenance of items in eReserve.

Our licence agreements with electronic publishers prohibit us from scanning paper copies of electronic journals and including them in eReserve.

PDF files

All eReserve items should be processed by the Division of Learning & Teaching Services (LTS) who will scan and pass the file to the library for cataloguing and loading to eReserve. If your item is already in PDF format please send direct to the Library's Reserve staff.

Files provided direct to the library should meet the following criteria:

• be in PDF format created by Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or better.
• preferred file size is less than 3MB (Note: pictures and diagrams take up considerable file space and do not scan well) scanned at a resolution of 300dpi. Smaller files make downloading easier for users.
• must include the title page and publication details and dates, if the content is from a chapter or part chapter from a book, or, the journal title, volume and page numbers if the content is a journal articl.
• scanned files should be made from good quality, legible originals, with no highlighter or pencil marks, and be straight on the page.
