The POD: Learning and Teaching Places of Design
Explore, create, innovate
The three Pods shouldn’t be treated as three individual spaces but as three linked and complimentary environments that can help facilitate better communication and collaboration across the campuses. They are available for staff to:
- Share
- Collaborate
- Create
- Experiment
- Learn
- Discuss
The Pods are not meeting rooms, they are spaces that allow academics and DSL staff to interface in an open and shared environment, unlike any other space within the university.
- Wagga POD - Jack Cross Centre, Bldg 15, Rm 105
- Bathurst POD - Bldg S16, Rm 33
- Albury Thurgoona POD - Bldg 769 Rm 242
Some possible uses of the areas are:

- Demonstrating new and Innovative technology:
- Showcases/ displays of creative learning resources in all media;
- Assistance in ICT-enabled learning and in particular the use of CSU Interact; - Areas of Professional Focus; and
- Communities of Practice.
For more information on the academic use of these spaces, please contact a DSL educational designer.
Physical spaces
The PODs are designed to be inviting and congenial, conducive to creativity and inspiration. They include:
- Comfortable furniture for 'brainstorming' and concept development;
- Multifunctional work areas that can be used for collaborative meetings or professional development; and
- Access to up-to-date technologies.
Technologies
The rooms are equipped with the new ‘People & Content’ system that uses dual-channel video conferencing – so People AND Content can be displayed. This has transformed the Pods from being passive to active spaces that engage, connect and facilitate participation. These units can be booked through Outlook in the same way as any other videoconference room:
- VC LTS POD 15 WW 757
- VC LTS POD 760 TH 739
- VC LTS POD S16 BA 756
Please Note: People and Content video conferencing will work with the existing video conference room however the view on the old VC system will depend on the specific machine settings. Some will see the content that is being sent but others will continue to see only the participants. You will still need to share via Bridgit to ensure everyone on the old system can view the content. Help Guides are available in each room.
The rooms are also stocked with other equipment, including an iPad and some laptops which are able to be used by staff.
