Evaluation
Introduction
This module emphasises the need for a scholarly reflection of evaluation of learning and teaching as forethought rather than an afterthought to teaching. It encourages an examination of the learning objectives and the strategies that would realise these objectives. It reflects on the question “What teaching strategies would best help me reach these objectives?”
Currently, the University uses the Online Evaluation of Subjects (OES) that comprises 11 core items.
From 201330, a new instrument, the Subject Experience Survey (SES) will be introduced for students to provide feedback on their workplace learning subjects.
From 201360, there will be another Subject Experience Survey introduced for the University’s General subjects.
Learning Activities
Towards developing your assignment one:
- Examine all the core items (either for General subjects in the OES or for WPL subjects in the SES) and select 3 core items.
- Reflect on why you chose those 3 core items with your justifications.
- Design appropriate teaching and learning strategies that would ensure positive feedback from your students on the 3 selected core items.
- Justify your strategies with specific explanations as to how you believe these would yield positive feedback on the 3 core items.
- Consider the diversity of your student cohort in your choice of 3 core items and your learning and teaching strategies.
Assessment
Note: This assessment only relates to students who are enrolled in the subject EEL416 Learning and Teaching at CSU.
There is no assessment in this module. However, the learning activities in this module will assist you in completing the assessment in the module Create an interact site with appropriate technologies (assignment 1).
