Marketing Communications

Each year the Marketing Communications Office produces a suite of promotional publications including course brochures, prospectuses, Career Area books, annual reports and other promotional items such as websites, CD-ROMs, brochures and fliers.

Editorial and design
The editorial team is responsible for all marketing communications in both print and web-based form, and is involved in all aspects of editorial work: writing, proof-reading, desktop publishing and editing. Each career area is assigned to an editor who is responsible for maintaining print and online information as communicated through the Faculty Executive Officer.

The team consists of:

Glenda Pym (Manager – Marketing Communications)
Monique Shephard (Senior Editor) – Faculty of Business career areas
Cade Whitbourn (Web Coordinator/Editor) – Faculty of Arts career areas
Melissa Smith (Editor) – Faculty of Science career areas
Cheryl Wilson (Dispatch Supervisor/Editor) – Faculty of Education career areas

The design team works together with the editorial team to portray the University’s corporate style across all University publications. While all members of the Marketing Communications Office contribute to the design process, it is the designers who carry concepts and ideas through to a visual outcome. The design team consists of Tony O’Neill and Amy Johanson, and casual designers.

Websites
The Marketing Communications Office maintains a number of areas within the CSU website, predominantly those aimed at prospective students. These include the online course brochures and search facility as well as general information about the University. The Marketing Communications staff also tracks web page user statistics and regularly surveys the University website to proof for style and currency of information.

Visual style
Produced by the Marketing Communications Office, the CSU Style Manual supports the University’s directive to present a coordinated and cohesive public image. The Manual provides guidelines for use of the CSU logo and other visual design elements, and seeks to provide direction for written messages regarding the University’s activities. The Style Manual is accessible to and available for use by all Faculties, Schools and Divisions through CSU.

Dispatch
CSU Dispatch distributes all marketing materials on behalf of the Division. Main activities include the dispatch of marketing materials to:

CSU Dispatch is also responsible for packing and dispatching between 600-2000 Associate Degree in Policing Practice packs per week generated by info.csu and NSW Police Recruitment at Parramatta.

Publicity for CSU
The marketing message of the University is supported with a range of publicity, specifically targeting regional areas. Publicity can be used to support specific courses and events, such as the recent launch of CSU Connect and the Bachelor of Rural Studies, as well as more general branding messages.

Assistance available
Marketing Communications is also available to produce other marketing communications such as brochures, posters, fliers, annual reports and websites, to meet your marketing needs, on a fee-for-service basis.

University Faculties and Schools may wish to distribute promotional materials that have a specific school or course focus. Marketing Communications offer a complete editorial and design service focused on producing well-written, accurate marketing communications that present a consistent and appealing visual image. Staff can assist in the production of additional publications such as posters, fliers and booklets, as well as television advertisements for targeted marketing as required by Schools/Divisions/Units of the University and external clients.

Publicity
Marketing Communications also has some capacity to support courses, events and other University initiatives through the provision of publicity. While the University media office should be the first contact point for major stories, we are happy to assist where we can, especially in promotion of new courses.

The Marketing Communications Office is also moving into new areas of technology and would be happy to discuss topics such as search engine optimisation and multimedia possibilities.

Editorial, design and web services are available to internal and external clients at a cost of $50 per hour. Estimates of cost can be given once an initial brief for the work has been provided.
