Explanations
News release – a detailed release that contains information relevant to state, national and international media and their audiences (examples)
Regional news – a brief summary of news topics sent to media in a specific area, usually the media located in CSU’s campus cities. A Regional News round-up is issued each Tuesday at 3pm (examples)
Feature stories – in depth articles exploring the ideas and achievements of CSU academics, students and alumni (examples)
Testimonials – statements from students about their positive experiences at CSU, usually including but not limited to information about their course of study, and often accompanied by a photograph. Testimonials are used by the Division of Marketing in prospective student publications such as the prospectus and on the CSU website
Marketing e-newsletters – Being developed by the Division’s Marketing Officers, e-newsletters provide information tailored to specific cohorts (e.g. veterinary science or information technology). These e-newsletters can contain details of new courses, student achievements, staff movements or improved facilities and will be distributed by the Marketing Officers
Alumni communication – information for CSU Alumni, usually about the achievements and successes of other Alumni. Distribution is likely to be through the Alumni website and Alumni newsletters
Career-specific publicity – information specific to career areas that support advertising (advertorial) or may be sent directly to specialty/industry publications (usually not for release to a generalist audience)
