Fact Sheet
Foreword

A very important factor of positioning the University within the increasingly competitive environment in which it operates is ensuring that the University's visual identity is clearly and consistently portrayed at all times. To this end, the University has invested substantial time and effort in defining its corporate identity and documenting guidelines for its use in the form of this Manual.

While the purpose of this Manual is to ensure that the University's visual style is used correctly and that the integrity of its corporate identity is protected, it also constitutes part of the University's quality assurance process.

The University's distinctive identity in the higher education sector has been greatly assisted by the design and maintenance of a series of elements that portray, in simple graphic form, a clear visual signature for the institution. This set of elements has become the institutional equivalent of an individual's signature.

The Manual is presented in sections, which contain general instructions and standards for the appropriate use of these elements of the University identity. The correct application of these elements will result in the University continuing to portray a strong, consistent image, representing its corporate philosophy and values.

As no institution is static, there will inevitably be changes that cannot be anticipated. Consequently the Rule on the use of the University Name and Logo has been established to ensure that all standards are adhered to.

The successful implementation of the corporate identity depends both on the observance of the policies detailed in this Manual and on the commitment and cooperation of all within the University, to project a consistent visual identity for Charles Sturt University.

I look forward to your cooperation in this important contribution to the University's positioning.
