The University Strategy 2007-2011 was approved by the University Council in December 2005. The Council also approved key institutional indicators of performance and associated long term targets in its April 2006 meeting.
The current University Strategy is a restatement and where necessary clarification of the University’s values, vision and mission. It focuses attention on the four key objectives of; Courses, Learning & Teaching, Research, Institutional Development, and identifies a succinct group of performance indicators for each. Challenging targets are set for each indicator.
The University Strategy 2007-2011 heads a comprehensive planning framework that aligns the objectives of the institution and its constituent parts, through centrally controlled planning, review and budget development processes.
Performance against institutional objectives and the management of corporate level risks are monitored by University Council in accordance with standard governance requirements. Similarly, accountability for performance and risk management within the institution is established through standard reporting lines and the Performance Management processes.
The University Plans align with the University Strategy, providing additional indicators
of performance, annual targets and a "bridge" to similarly aligned
Faculty and Divisional annual Operational Plans. The development of Faculty/Divisional
Operational Plans and their alignment with University Plans occurs within
the University’s general planning, review and budget development processes,
as documented in the Timeline for Planning and
Review Activities.
These planning and review processes are conducted in a spirit of "continuous improvement", as demonstrated in the Users Guide to the CSU Strategic Plan.
Responsibility for each plan is clearly identified, as shown.
Faculty and Divisional planning and risk assessment documentation is guided by planning templates ( Operational Plan | Single layered template (Risk register) ).
The University Strategy 2007 - 2011 exists within a corporate planning lifecycle and according to a timeline that will see it updated for the period 2011 - 2016.
