Sylvia has over 20 years senior management, marketing and program and project management experience in education, and the private and public sectors. She has successfully established and managed University and corporate business in Australia and overseas. Her excellent track record has included managing business units, being a Project Director and Program Manager for small to large projects for government, non-government and international agencies such as World Bank, United Nations and Asian Development Bank. She has created opportunities and increased business in each organisation she has worked, and her aim is to achieve goals in business and encourage staff to have th at vision for success.
Sylvia has worked at The Australian National University in administration and management. Hee Executive positions have included Deputy General Manager, ANUTECH Development International, Manager, Social Sciences and Training, ANUTECH Pty Ltd, ANU; Manager, USPSolutions, The University of the South Pacific (USP - Suva, Fiji); Acting General Manager, Social Infrastructure Development, SMEC International Pty Ltd, Canberra, the Australian institute of Management and EDS Australia. Her ability to establish and manage business and increas e business opportunities is well recognised by her achievements and the success in each business she has worked . Her major strengths are building professional relationships and networks, marketing, program management, financial management , and at the same time manage a diverse range of business activities. She has been a teacher at CIT and ANU Workplace Programs, as well as short-course programs at ANUTECH.
She has extensive knowledge of the Federal Government and private sector business in Canberra, as well as a depth of experience in project and consultancy work internationally, in particular with international development assistance agencies. Sylvia has worked in Government agencies as a Program Manager, Service Manager and Governance and Communications Manager, and assisted in establishing Program Offices. She has proven success in establishing student programs, marketing, and building agent networks overseas to recruit students for ANU, ANUTECH, USP and Australian Institute of Management, and travelled around the world to market and increase opportunities.
Sylvia attributes her success to the cooperation and cohesiveness of the teams that she has worked with over many years. Her philosophy is that people are to be treated with respect and allow them to ‘own’ work, and be honest and ethical in all her dealings. She encourages staff to achieve goals and assists them by mentoring and giving support, while adding value and benefit to all organisations she works.
She has been a Member of various Boards and Committees including ACT and Southern Region Consultative Committee, ANUTECH Board, Queanbeyan YMCA Board, ANUCOM, RAPLInk Inc. and Australian Institute of Project Management – ACT Chapter, and many Committees at the University of the South Pacific.
