Responding to aggressive students

Recognising the earlier symptoms of aggression or extreme frustration could help you to more quickly de-escalate the situation. It is important that the episode of aggressive behaviour be managed either by diffusion or avoidance. You need to be in control of the situation so as you can shift it from reactive to proactive. This means not taking anything personally and not trying to be brave. Always remember it is your right to be treated with respect. You also have the right to take care of and protect yourself from being threatened physically, mentally or emotionally.
